In this role, you'll have the valuable opportunity to collaborate closely with our Duty Resource Managers (DRM) and Senior Resource Managers (SRM), as well as interface with Train Service Managers (TSM) during service disruptions. Your daily responsibilities will involve liaising with train crew to swiftly resolve on-the-day issues, including covering duties in case of absences. During service disruptions, you'll work alongside SRM and TSM, communicating with train crew to provide guidance on next steps. Effective planning, negotiation, and prioritisation skills will be essential aspects of your role. If you thrive in high-pressure situations and are keen to develop these skills further, this role is an ideal fit for you. It also serves as excellent preparation for future roles within South Western Railway.
Apprenticeship Standard: Level 3
Please note, you must be between the ages of 16 - 18 at the commencement of employment to be considered for this young talent apprenticeship.
You'll need:
1. A desire to pursue a career in the railway industry.
2. Flexibility – this apprenticeship may involve early or late shifts and travel to other areas on our network.
3. Excellent communication, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
4. Proactive and adaptable approach to problem-solving, with a keen eye for detail.
5. Willingness to undergo training and development to enhance skills and knowledge in the role.

As a minimum, you will need to have:
7. GCSE grade 4 or above in English and maths
About the location
Basingstoke Campus, more commonly known as the ROC, is a state-of-the-art Operating Centre and training facility located a short walk from Basingstoke station. It is a shared facility with Network Rail and is the hub for all operations across the Wessex region. The office space and technology on site are modern with the added benefit of additional facilities including a gym & canteen.

Additional Information
The programme aims at developing skilled data analysts and you will be fully supported and mentored through your apprenticeship and be given protected time to complete your course work. You will be supported monthly by your business coach, have quarterly reviews involving your manager & attend 18 days of facilitated training to ensure you are fully equipped to start your career as a Data Technician.
