Job Title: Assistant Transport Manager Location of work: Earlswood Depot Salary: £40,983 - £48,075 (dependant on experience and qualifications) Basis: Permanent, Full time About the Role: The primary role of the Assistant Transport Manager is to ensure the efficient & effective running of the Council’s Fleet services, whilst maintaining compliance with all aspects of the operator’s license. This involves the procurement, management, maintenance and repair of all of the Council’s vehicles across a number of service areas. You will be also responsible for managing the day-to-day running of an in-house workshop which facilitates the repair of fleet vehicles, provides MOT services for class 4, 5 & 7 vehicles and taxi plating. In addition, the Assistant Transport Manager will lead on the planning & co-ordination of the vehicle capital replacement program and any associated work streams. Some of the duties include: To Administer fleet/transport related software, including the fleet management system, vehicle mounted CCTV and vehicle tracking software. Manage the fleet MOT and service schedules. Assist the Transport manager in the procurement of new fleet assets. Administrate Reigate and Banstead Borough Council’s operator’s licence obligations, including Tacho downloads, drivers’ hours, and monthly report processing. Take responsibility for MOT lane management in the capacity of AED/AEDM once qualification is gained. About the Person: Extensive fleet management experience to drive through successful change; through vision and innovative ways of working, which will improve our fleet management and workshop practices. Highly organised, motivated and have strong leadership skills Strong interpersonal skills to ensure excellent customer care and cross service collaboration. Qualifications: You will be qualified to hold the council’s Operators License (O License) and will need to be qualified in vehicle maintenance and workshop management (a member of the Institute of Road Transport Engineers, or equivalent). Full UK driving licence (HGV experience preferred).
