HSE Manager - Requirements
Responsible for leading the development and implementation of Health, Safety and Environmental policies and procedures across the business to maintain legal compliance and meet accreditation requirements. Promote a safe and healthy work environment for all employees, contractors and visitors. Work closely with stakeholders at all levels of the business to identify and mitigate risks and promote Health, Safety and Environmentally responsible best practices. Drive a workforce and create a culture where health & safety is never compromised by ensuring staff understand their responsibilities.
NEBOSH qualified (preferably Diploma)
Trained in internal audits together (preferably) with HACCP level 3
Trained first aider
Proven experience as a Health & Safety Manager in FMCG manufacturing or similar environment
Strong understanding of legal health and safety guidelines relevant to the industry
Experience in ISO 14001 Environmental Management, ISO 45001 Occupational Health & Safety Management, ISO 9001 Quality Management, BRCGS, Ecovardis and SMETA 4 Pillar
Excellent interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills.
Process and compliance focused
Proficient with IT and Microsoft Office
HSE Manager - Responsibilities
Deliver strategic and operational objectives relating to health and safety and environmental aspects of the organisations Integrated Management System
Responsible for meeting the requirements of the companies accreditations and be involved in the audits
Manage key Health and Safety activities including Accident Investigations, Risk Assessments, Management of Change, Permit to Work, Control of Contractors and all mandatory monitoring and Safety Inspections etc
Conduct regular inspections and risk assessments to identify potential hazards, prepare detailed reports on findings and develop preventative strategies and actions
Organise health and safety training for employees to ensure awareness and understanding of safety and environmental practices and legislation
Conduct compliance and internal audits in accordance with both ISO and the organisations policies
Promote a positive and proactive safety culture, providing training on health and safety topics
Investigate incidents, accidents and near misses and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence
Manage and report on waste and recycling activities, storage and disposal of hazardous materials in compliance with regulations
Monitor and report KPI performance for QMS, Health & Safety and Environmental performance
Stay up to date with legislation and regulatory requirements related to health and safety and environmental matters that impact the business
Manage emergency procedures such as fire alarm drills, spillages and tanker unloading
Collaborate with internal leadership and external regulatory bodies to maintain compliance standards
Proactively identify and implement opportunities for Health & Safety improvement
Promote and implement policies and procedures for sustainability, reducing waste and improving efficiency
Manage the policies and procedures for the company's packaging waste reporting requirements
