Overview
An exciting opportunity to join the Elective Treatment Centre for Surgery at the Manchester Royal Infirmary. ETC Surgery is a 24 bedded unit with elective case loads across specialties, including major head and neck surgery, flap reconstruction and complex airway management. There are opportunities to develop skills in colorectal, hepatobiliary, and particularly tracheostomy and laryngectomy care, as well as emergency tracheostomy/laryngectomy management. A brand new same day emergency service for ENT and urology patients operates in addition to the 24 beds.
Responsibilities
The post holder will:
* assess, plan, evaluate and deliver all relevant aspects of patient care in a caring, compassionate and sensitive manner
* work closely with the multi-disciplinary team and contribute to the clinical governance process
* act as a mentor/preceptor to junior staff, with specific responsibility for pre-registration students
* take delegated responsibility for the management of the clinical team and the maintenance of high standards of quality patient care on a shift basis
* support the Ward Manager with the operational management for the team on the Ward
* develop a culture of continuous improvement with emphasis on the patient journey and clinical outcomes
