What will you be DOING?
1. Be the first point of call for review of incidents
2. Carry out inspections and audits of key risk areas as directed by the H&S Manager
3. Support the H&S Manager by making sure that the day-to-day operation of the H&S Management System is functioning correctly
4. Coach the on-site managers and supervisors to take responsibility for health & safety in their areas of expertise
5. Assist in training and coaching where applicable
6. Collate performance information and offer improvement insight as appropriate
7. Work with the on-site managers and supervisors, being positive and enthusiastic about making the site safe and healthy for those who work at Higgidy
8. Undertake projects as directed by the H&S manager
What SKILLS or KNOWLEDGE do you need to have?
Skills:
- H&S Qualification (preferably NEBOSH or equivalent)
- 1-2 years safety experience in manufacturing or warehousing & distribution - Food industry experience preferred
- Strong IT Skills - Microsoft package, H&S Systems Administration skills, preferably having been involved in the creation and implementation of policies/procedures
Knowledge:
- Will have worked as a H&S Technician/Officer in a manufacturing/warehousing/transport environment – preferably food.
- Will have some experience of key food's airborne hazards such as machinery guarding especially taking into use, workplace transport, legionella controls, ammonia refrigeration, contractor control and PTW
- Will have experience of implementing safety management systems and investigating and learning from incidents under supervision and in support of a H&S Manager
- They will be passionate about pursuing a career in health & safety and willing to learn, an interactive, collaborative and empowering member of the team
