Swim England is the national governing body for swimming in England.

We help people learn how to swim, enjoy the water safely, and compete in all our sports.

About the Role
We are looking for a knowledgeable and motivated National Sport Officer – Swimming (North) to support the delivery of Swim England’s national swimming programme across the North of England.

This role plays a key part in planning and delivering an integrated Olympic and Paralympic swimming pathway, working closely with coaches, clubs and partners to drive athlete development and performance.

Working collaboratively across the sport, you will provide technical guidance, coordinate programme activity, and support the ongoing development of athletes and coaches within their daily training environments. Your work will help ensure a consistent, high-quality approach to performance development across the region.

Key Responsibilities
In this role you will:

- Support the planning and delivery of the national swimming programme, including DiSE activity

- Work with coaches and athletes within club environments to support development

- Coordinate training and competition visits across the North region

- Support the integration of para swimming within performance pathways

- Build strong relationships with clubs, regions and key stakeholders

- Contribute to programme evaluation, research and performance insight

- Provide technical and developmental support to coaching networks and partners

- Ensure all activity aligns with safeguarding, welfare, EDI and data protection standards

- Promote Swim England values in all interactions

Skills and Experience
Essential
- Strong understanding of Olympic and Paralympic swimming pathways

- Experience delivering programmes within a club or national swimming environment

- Knowledge of athlete development, coaching frameworks and competition structures

- Strong organisational, communication and stakeholder engagement skills

- Understanding of safeguarding, welfare, EDI and GDPR requirements

- Ability to analyse information and support decision-making

- Minimum Level 2 swimming coaching qualification

Desirable
- Experience developing coaches or workforce within a structured pathway

- Level 3 coaching qualification (or equivalent)

- Leadership experience within a club setting

- Knowledge of Diploma in Sporting Excellence (DiSE)
