As a Technical Delivery Manager on the Portsmouth site you will work with cutting‑edge technology alongside some of the most brilliant minds.
The Role of the Technical Delivery Manager
The Technical Delivery Manager (TDM) works as part of a close‑knit, customer‑facing team delivering a series of MBS exercises over an initial five‑year period. The TDM will lead a small technical team and be responsible for the correct technical configuration of QinetiQ’s MCAST system as required for each unique exercise. Responsibilities include developing and maintaining scenario and model CIS systems, exercise laydowns and identifying continuous improvement priorities for the MCAST development team.
Reporting to the MCAST Service Delivery Manager, the TDM will manage day‑to‑day technical tasks and resources, ensuring timely and safe completion of all activities within cost and quality standards. Regular progress reports will be provided to project management and project milestones will be delivered on schedule.
Tasks Include
* Deliver the technical aspects of the MCAST service to enable exercise execution and achieve Training Objectives (TOs).
* Work closely with other teams to ensure exercise TOs are not limited by the system’s technical capability.
* Lead the Technical Delivery Team to meet MCAST Service priorities.
* Attend and support project meetings and working groups.
* Support exercise delivery and attend daily exercise coordination meetings.
* Act as a technical point of escalation during exercise execution, providing remedial actions if required.
The Candidate
The ideal candidate will have strong understanding and proven experience delivering and deploying technology‑supported training solutions and operations. Experience dealing with senior ranks and demonstrable commercial awareness is essential. Based in the Portsmouth area, this role is ideal for those who enjoy ‘making things happen’ and are highly delivery‑focused. You will work closely with exercise delivery and lead technical teams to deliver a seamless experience to the training audience.
Experience And Skills
* Understanding and use of synthetic environments to support training.
* Understanding of a range of CIS systems.
* Relevant project management experience, including techniques and tools for prioritisation, risk and opportunity management.
* Excellent organisational skills and the ability to multi‑task.
* Strong communication skills, both efficient and diplomatic.
* Strong leadership and management skills of teams with diverse backgrounds and experience levels.
* Expert user of the MS Office Suite.
