Description
DMC Healthcare are seeking talented local Gastroenterology nurses to be a part of our weekend Gastro OPD team at Grantham hospital in Lincolnshire.
The role:
To support the nursing team, ensuring high standards of effective care are delivered to all patients within the Gastro OPD services, whilst maintaining communication within the team.
Key Responsibilities
* Work as part of Gastro OPD team under direct supervision of a Lead Nurse.
* Prepare onsite clinics ensuring clinical notes are available and computers are working, ensuring waste is kept to a minimum.
* Ensure the Patient Record is completed in a timely and accurate way.
* Participate in teaching within your sphere of knowledge and skill.
* Must be able to offer clear and thorough explanations of procedures, treatment plans, and dietary or lifestyle modifications to patients.
* Perform routine clinical tasks such as blood pressure monitoring, ECGs, and sample collection.
* Provide emotional support to patients undergoing invasive or potentially distressing treatments.
* Must be competent in using Microsoft office applications such as word and excel.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Qualification and training
* Must hold active NMC registration.
Experience
* Minimum 1 year experience as a Gastro OPD nurse.
* Knowledge and Technical Ability
* High standard of clinical practice competent across a range of clinical skills supported by professional competence and knowledge
* Able to use evidence-based practice to provide high standards of care.
* Knowledge of appropriate standards and external bodies, such as the Care Quality Commission
Other
* Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as excellent interpersonal skills with patients, staff, and other health care professionals.
* IT literate and a competent user of the MS Office suite of products
* Able to demonstrate an understanding of health policy and professional health agendas
* Able to deal effectively with challenging situations and challenging individuals
* Able to gain the confidence of colleagues and peers
* Capable and confident, with the ability to work on own initiative
* Excellent organisational skills
* Able to work to tight deadlines
* Flexible approach to work and working patterns
