In this role,you will play a vital role in the day-to-day running of Tennant Street Medical Practice. This is a patient-facing and administrative role where you will be the first point of contact for patients, healthcare professionals, and external partners.
You will support the delivery of high-quality healthcare services by managing a range of administrative and reception duties, including telephone and desk-based support, clinical coding, document management, audio typing, and prescription processing. You will also assist with patient recall systems, maintain accurate records, and ensure a professional and welcoming environment for all visitors.
Main duties of the job
Reception & Front Desk: Greeting patients, handling enquiries, booking appointments, managing phone calls, and checking patients in.
Administration: Processing prescriptions, scanning and filing documents, handling incoming/outgoing mail, and supporting recall for chronic disease clinics.
Clinical Support: Audio typing, clinical coding, assisting with medical reports and forms, and updating patient records accurately.
Team Contribution: Attending meetings, supporting practice improvements, and participating in training and development.
Systems & Data Management: Using IT systems (e.g. SystmOne) to manage appointments, input clinical information, and maintain confidentiality at all times.

Job responsibilities
The Administrative Assistant/Receptionist is a key member of the practice team, providing essential front-line and administrative support to ensure the smooth running of day-to-day operations. This includes managing patient interactions, maintaining accurate records, supporting clinical teams, and ensuring high standards of confidentiality and service.
The post holder will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide a professional and efficient reception service, perform a range of administrative tasks, and contribute to the overall development of the practice.
