Bedwas Junior School wish to appoint a new caretaker who will maintain high standards and health & safety of the building and school environment.
We are looking for a proactive Caretaker who is able to work practically on a day-to-day basis, someone who can particularly turn their hand to all things practical - building, painting & decorating and supporting the overall DIY/ fixing aspects of running a school.
Responsibilities
* Maintain high standards and health & safety of the building and school environment.
* Work practically on a day-to-day basis with a focus on building maintenance, painting & decorating, and general DIY/repairs.
* Contribute to the security, safety and day-to-day running of the school premises and site.
* Be proactive in solving problems and use own initiative where appropriate.
Qualifications and qualities we are looking for
* Experience of building maintenance.
* Understanding of fire safety and general knowledge of health and safety.
* Committed, flexible and reliable attitude.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively.
* High expectations of personal and others’ safety, especially of pupils.
* Excellent DIY skills, confident in undertaking general repairs and maintenance.
* Willingness to go ‘the extra mile’ for staff and pupils.
* Committed and efficient worker who is flexible, uses initiative and is proactive in solving problems.
* Ability to contribute to the security, safety and day-to-day running of the school premises and site.
* Prepared to undertake any relevant training.
* Genuine care for the school and enthusiasm for being part of a staff team that encourages pupils to respect and be proud of their school environment.
