Role Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic and caring Mobile Service Technician to support our service centre and community needs. Based in Ipswich, our team supports the NHS Wheelchair Service across Suffolk, focusing on distribution and maintenance of wheelchairs. Ross Care, part of Medux, partners with the NHS to supply essential equipment to schools, care homes, hospitals, and patients at home.
Job Purpose
Assist in achieving contractual service standards by completing initial training in wheelchair reconditioning, gaining product knowledge, and supporting fieldwork involving delivery, collection, repair, and servicing of wheelchairs. Aim for first-time fix jobs to ensure minimal impact on patients, supported by structured parts storage and a dedicated team.
The Role
* Deliver and collect wheelchairs from service users' homes and NHS departments, following infection control policies.
* Service and repair wheelchairs in the field, aiming for first-time fixes.
* Complete all job paperwork accurately, including parts used and actions taken.
* Use PPE as instructed.
* Take out-of-hours responsibilities when rostered.
* Follow regulations for vehicle use and safety, maintain vehicle cleanliness, and replenish parts stock.
* Maintain a professional attitude, wear uniform and ID, and handle all interactions discreetly.
* Organize workload and maintain tools and equipment responsibly.
About You
* Full UK driving license.
* Successful enhanced DBS check.
* General workshop knowledge and basic electrical skills (12v/24v systems).
* Ability to handle loads safely and experience with face-to-face customer contact.
* Understanding of disabilities and flexible approach to work.
* Good communication skills and ability to use mobile phones and scanners.
Physical Demands
* Handling equipment, standing, kneeling, working in confined spaces, and using ramps or moving equipment.
Challenges
* Responding flexibly to changing priorities and emergency out-of-hours duties.

Maintain confidentiality of all service user information at all times.
What We Offer
* Salary: £26,395 per annum.
* Monday to Friday, 08:00 - 16:30.
