Offer description

Are you a Newly Qualified Social Worker or do you qualify in the upcoming months? Alternatively, have you recently finished your ASYE and are looking to find the best opportunities to develop and progress in the first steps of your career?

Come and join us where we have recently been rated "outstanding" by Ofsted and inspectors commented that "practitioners have been resolute in universally saying that they feel supported, valued and receive regular and helpful individual and group supervision. They feel equipped with a wealth of resources and training. Practitioners’ relentless dedication to ensure children, families and care leavers receive the support they need shone through in this inspection."

Make Dorset the Next Step in Your Social Work Career

We understand that your first years as a social worker are so important for your career. We have ASYE and Level 2 Social Worker opportunities where you will be supported by a team with a wealth of experience and knowledge.

If you are joining us for your ASYE year, you will join our ASYE programme where you will have:

* A reduced caseload
* Protected development time
* Shadowing opportunities
* Mentoring support from an experienced social worker
* Access to Peer Support groups
* Specific ASYE training and learning development opportunities

‘Dorset Council has given me a brilliant opportunity and has started off my career in Social Work, from the support at the beginning of the ASYE programme right down to the last day, my experience has been amazing. Support from the professionals has been great, no question was too silly, and the training has been relevant and up to date – which has helped me grow in confidence, experience, and expertise. I was treated like a professional and asked for my contribution right from the beginning which made me feel valued as an ASYE Social Worker, I am very grateful to Dorset Council and would recommend them to any ASYEs that want to start of their career right’ Natasha

We are delighted that Dorset has been recognised for its fantastic work with children, young people and families by being selected as one of only three initial pathfinder sites nationally, testing the delivery of key reforms across the sector as part of the Families First for Children programme.

We are looking for people who have a genuine interest in restorative practice and a strengths‑based approach to building effective relationships with children, families, and communities. So, if you are committed to making a difference to the lives of children and young people, we want to hear from you.

Benefits

* a competitive salary
* flexible working
* excellent Local Government Pension Scheme
* exciting continuous professional development opportunities
* career progression through three levels of Qualified Social Worker roles, and further development into management and advanced practice
