Wagon Fitters - All Mechanical Backgrounds ConsideredLocation: Peterborough, CambridgeshireType: Permanent role (temp to perm) Start Date: August Shifts: 5 days per week - Sunday to ThursdayHours: 9-hour shifts / 45 hours per weekPay: £22.50 per hourThe RoleWe're seeking mechanically skilled individuals to carry out wagon maintenance and examinations in Peterborough, March, and surrounding areas. This is a field-based role working in pairs, mainly covering the Midlands and Southeast, with a focus on the Peterborough region.What to ExpectYou'll start in Peterborough for competency training, A drug and alcohol test is required following a successful interview.You'll attend a paid PTS (Personal Track Safety) course in your first week.Once training is complete, you'll receive a company van and begin fieldwork with your assigned partner (this may take a few months).Key ResponsibilitiesCarrying out both reactive and preventative maintenanceConducting wagon examinations (full training provided)Supporting with slinging and lifting tasksWorking outdoors in all weather conditionsOccasional lodging when required (once competent)What We're Looking ForSolid mechanical background - all industries consideredNVQ Level 3 in a mechanical discipline ( but not essential)Full UK driving licenceExperience with vehicles is beneficial but not essentialComfortable with travel - primary bases are Peterborough and MarchWilling to work outdoors and attend breakdowns off-siteOpen to occasional overnight staysWhat's in It for You?£22.50 per hour - when contracting before moving to salary.
