Job Description
Purpose of role:
* With the support of the Head of Department and other staff, responsibility for developing relationships and new business opportunities to provide a range of tax and other services to private client individuals.
* Overall responsibility and accountability for a group of clients, with excellent technical expertise in your field.
* Skilled at leading and managing the relationship with clients, with the aim of developing new business from your current client base and beyond.
* Responsibility for encouraging and developing associate directors, senior managers, and other staff members.
* Ensuring excellent client service whilst minimising conduct risk.
* Contributing to the management of your department and/or office if relevant.
Key responsibilities:
Client Advice
* Able to provide suitable strategic and technical advice and guidance to clients regarding their personal tax affairs.
* Understand and evaluate the client's situation and tailor advice accordingly, providing clear and technically accurate documentation and key transaction documents.
* Potentially develop a sector specialism.
* Understand and evaluate the impact of market and economic indicators and adjust tax advice as needed.
* Support clients in negotiations, liaising with other advisers, and coordinating activities to resolve challenges.
* Oversee team reports and advice, review, edit, and approve key documents.
Client Liaison
* Lead client meetings, ensuring clarity, relevance, and professionalism.
* Handle client requests promptly and effectively.
* Ensure correspondence and reports are clear, accurate, and meet client needs.
Growing the Business
* Enhance the group's reputation internally and externally.
* Contribute to business strategy to prioritize client needs and commercial viability.
* Assist with PR activities for your expertise area.
* Promote cross-selling within the group.
* Build relationships with current and potential clients.
* Identify and pursue key targets.
* Lead marketing and business development efforts for your field.
Quality Control, Compliance, and Risk Management
* Ensure compliance with internal procedures to mitigate risk.
* Follow the group's compliance manual and operational procedures.
* Maintain personal technical competence.
* Report complaints and potential PI issues according to procedures.
Financial Management
* Manage chargeable hours, utilization, recoveries, WIP, billing, and lock-up for your team.
* Monitor and ensure timely time sheet submissions.
* Conduct financial reviews with direct reports.
* Report WIP, bad debts, and other issues to the HoB.
* Adhere to policies on WIP and debtor management.
Staff Management & Development
* Lead according to the company's leadership profile and competencies.
* Manage daily operations of direct reports.
* Conduct development reviews and mentor staff.
* Maintain high technical and professional standards.
* Develop management and leadership skills within your team.
* Align staff development with ADRs and talent plans.
* Manage and develop staff to maximize their potential.
Key Performance Indicators:
* Maintain a client portfolio of at least £500,000 per annum.
* Record 900-1,000 chargeable hours annually.
* Keep under recoveries below 10% on scale rates.
* Maintain lock-up below KPIs for your business line.
* Control debtors and demonstrate a commercial approach to outstanding fees.

Qualifications
Candidate Profile
* Degree educated
* Chartered Accountant and/or Chartered Tax Adviser
Experience & Skills
* Extensive private client tax experience within a professional or boutique firm.
* Proven client handling and business development skills.
* Strong technical leadership.
* Staff management experience.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Strong commercial awareness.
