Role Overview
In the land domain, our T7 and T4 multi-mission robots deliver next-generation remote capabilities and uncompromised performance. We design and manufacture world‑leading land force protection systems, cyber and electromagnetic activities (CEMA), electronic warfare (EW) and encryption capabilities. Our cyber capabilities provide an information advantage in the fields of kinetic conflict, cyber warfare, force protection and counter‑terrorism. We are seeking experienced engineers to join project teams of all sizes within our Information Resilience and Electronic Warfare departments. You will engage and work alongside engineers of all disciplines who are passionate about technology and applying it to the nationally critical projects in which they work. You will become part of the established Firmware engineering community that has a heavy emphasis on developing talent through in‑depth internal training, mentoring, knowledge sharing and social events and a spirit of shared responsibility for the modernisation and development of our tools and processes. The industry‑leading products you will help to develop use FPGAs as a key enabling technology for high‑speed packet processing, implementation of complex algorithms and security‑enforcing functions. You will be exposed to a modern FPGA development environment that utilises the latest tools and Continuous Integration methods.
Responsibilities
As a Firmware Engineer, you will be responsible for writing VHDL and developing FPGA firmware that meets stringent performance and timing requirements. You will work on AMD FPGA and SoC devices, applying the AXI protocol and maintaining scripted build flows using TCL and Python. Your role will include FPGA simulation with Siemens QuestaSim, verification using OSVVM & CoCoTB, version control with Git, and contributing to Continuous Integration pipelines with GitLab and Docker. You will collaborate with cross‑functional teams, share knowledge, mentor junior engineers, and continuously seek process improvements.
