Senior Principal Protection & Control Design Engineer

You are an experienced Principal/Lead/Senior Protection & Control Engineer with experience in the energy sector. Due to our continued success, we are looking to bring on board a Senior Principal Protection & Control Engineer.
As part of our P&C community, you will work on a variety of projects across multiple technical disciplines with clients nationwide. Projects may include HVDC interconnectors, wind farms, substations, OHL, geotechnical solutions, building design, protection systems, LVAC, FEED, new builds, refurbishment works, and connection schemes.
As a Senior Principal P&C Engineer, you will lead and collaborate with a passionate team of engineers on projects up to 400kV. You will take projects from concept through detailed design and support them during construction and energisation. Ideally, you have experience working with key T&D clients in the UK and will have the chance to work on projects focused on innovation, standardisation, technology assessment, and collaboration with suppliers on new products and services.
Your Role
* Develop scoping documentation and Main Connections & Protection Diagrams.
* Review Protection & Control Designs developed by third parties.
* Specify P&C related equipment and plant such as relays, CTs, and VTs.
* Produce detailed designs including AC/DC schematics.
* Conduct protection grading studies, produce relay files and settings.
* Review Commissioning Plans and attend Commissioning Panel meetings.
About You
* Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in electrical engineering or a related field.
* Experience working as a Senior/Principal Protection & Control Design Engineer on Distribution Networks.
* Knowledge and experience with protection relays and relay panels, CT & VT sizing calculations, protection grading studies, and producing detailed AC/DC drawings.
* Familiarity with UK electrical practices and standards and an understanding of CDM regulations.
* High regard for safety with demonstrable experience in risk mitigation.
* Experience working with National Grid processes.
