Co-ordinate designated study programme delivery activities for the College, including delivery of high quality teaching, responsibility for day-to-day operational issues, exams, and timetabling. Ensure a consistent approach across sites if required. Inspire and motivate students through outstanding teaching that challenges them to excel.
Lecturers should be passionate about their subject and enthusiastic about developing students' English, Maths, and employability skills. Regular target setting and progress monitoring will underpin this, ensuring all students achieve successful outcomes.
Main Responsibilities and Duties:
The following outlines the main priorities as directed by senior management and is not exhaustive:
1. Teaching and Curriculum Development: Deliver high-quality teaching aligned with College standards and external bodies. Prepare materials, schemes of work, and lesson plans. Develop and implement curricula, assess student work, monitor progress, and maintain statutory responsibilities including safeguarding, equal opportunities, and health and safety.
2. Course Management: Handle communication, problem-solving, timetable checks, cover arrangements, work experience, enrichment activities, internal verification, and administrative tasks to ensure cross-site compliance and consistency.
3. Recruitment and Enrolment: Assist in recruiting suitable candidates, manage enrolment procedures, and organize induction programs for new students.
4. Student Support: Conduct regular meetings with students, set SMART targets, assist with UCAS references, and support their pastoral and academic needs.
5. Monitoring and Reporting: Track attendance, results, and course performance. Implement action plans where necessary.
6. English and Maths Promotion: Support and monitor attendance and progress in English and Maths classes.
7. Meetings and Collaboration: Attend various meetings and events, coordinate parent evenings, and collaborate with colleagues on course development and quality assurance.
8. Departmental Administration: Manage registers, update records, produce reports, and publish materials on the VLE.
9. Quality Assurance: Participate in college committees, verification, moderation, reviews, and self-assessment processes.
Additional duties for lecturers on SPS points 5-8 include internal verification, monitoring SARs, resource coordination, and liaising with HE institutions.
