Your Role

and What You'll Be Doing

As a Trainee Special Damages Assessor, you will support personal injury litigation by analysing data provided by case handlers to quantify financial losses incurred by clients following an incident. This includes preparing detailed calculations across various heads of past and future loss, and compiling these into a Schedule of Loss for court filing.

Key duties include:

1. Reviewing evidence in personal injury cases to determine whether financial losses have been incurred as a result of injury
2. Compiling detailed quantum calculations, beginning with straightforward past losses and progressing to more complex cases over time
3. Communicating with fee earners, counsel, and clients to explain the basis of calculations and advise on the most effective approach to establishing quantum in specific cases
4. Attending relevant case management and client meetings, with support from the team trainer
5. Managing both personal and central workloads to ensure all work instructions are completed within agreed service levels
6. Confidently using core case management and time recording systems including 3E and Peppermint
About You

We’re looking for someone who is eager to grow into a Quantum Analyst role and has a strong interest in special damages. You should be:

7. Highly organised, with excellent time management skills and the ability to meet varied deadlines
8. Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
9. Comfortable working with numbers, ideally with qualifications in mathematics, accountancy, or a related field
Our Benefits - What We Can Offer You
10. 25 days holidays as standard plus bank holidays - You can ‘buy’ up to 35hrs of extra holiday too.
11. Generous and flexible pension schemes.
12. Volunteering days – Two days of volunteering every year for a cause of your choice (fully paid)
13. Westfield Health membership, offering refunds on medical services alongside our Aviva Digital GP services.

We also offer a wide range of well-being initiatives to encourage positive mental health both in and out of the workplace and to make sure you’re fully supported. This includes our Flexible by Choice programme which gives our colleagues more choice over a hybrid way of working subject to role, team and client requirements.

We have been ranked in the Best Workplaces for Wellbeing for Large Organisations for 2024!

Our responsible business programmes are fundamental to who we are and our purpose. We’re committed to being a diverse and inclusive workplace where our colleagues can flourish, and we have established a number of inclusion network groups across our business to support this aim.

Our commitment to Social Responsibility, community investment activity and tackling climate change is a fundamental part of who we are. It’s made up of four strands: Our People, Our Community, Our Environment and Our Pro Bono.
