What You Will Do Manage a complex caseload of legal work, providing high-level advice to elected members, senior managers, and external clients.
Represent the Council in legal proceedings including the Magistrates Court, County Court, Tribunals, and Inquiries, and instruct Counsel where appropriate for higher court matters.
Provide strategic legal advice on key projects and initiatives aligned with the Councils objectives and service improvements.
Lead, supervise, and inspire a team, allocating work effectively and ensuring adherence to modern legal practices and standards.
Keep up to date with legislative and case law developments and deliver training sessions and briefings to colleagues and stakeholders.
Supervise junior fee earners and support staff to ensure consistently high-quality legal services.
Attend and contribute to internal and external meetings, corporate groups, and deputise for the Assistant Head of Legal Services when required.
