Lab Technician – Refresco, Milton Keynes
6am-2pm and 12pm-8pm on rotation, Monday to Friday

About the role
To provide the business with analytical and microbiological services to support the operations function in achieving right first-time quality.
7. Sampling as scheduled at all specific points on raw materials, manufacturing process and finished goods in terms of chemical and microbiological analysis.
8. Analysis of samples as per specified methods.
9. Inform Technical/Production Managers of results outside specification for instigation of corrective actions.
10. Maintain the working area in a clean, safe and tidy condition.
11. Observe the requirements as laid down in the Food Safety Act 1990 and Food Hygiene Regulations amended 2005.
12. Observe company health and safety procedures as laid down, and be proactive in ensuring the continuance of updating procedures
13. Give technical support to the other company departments when required
14. Assist Technical Management with the implementation of quality systems and project work.
15. Ensure that all analytical equipment is maintained and calibrated to the required standards and schedules
16. Carry out product sensory panels to meet requirements
17. Ensure raw materials & chemicals used within the laboratory are within acceptable date criteria.
18. Ensure the quality laboratory operation meets the requirements of external accredited bodies by following procedures carefully
19. Support each other within the team to provide resources whenever required to resolve problems and prevent customer & consumer complaints
20. Arrange service contracts and maintain equipment to high standards
21. Order all materials and equipment as required
22. Ensure that all quality and food safety checks are carried out satisfactorily
About You
23. Experience and understanding of GMP.
24. Adequate background knowledge of micro and HPLC
25. Knowledge and experience of organoleptic techniques.
26. Sound understanding of HACCP and Food Safety principles, ideally to at least intermediate level
