My client is a leading construction consultancy working in the Defence sector. They require an experienced Consents Manager who has SC Clearance on a short‑term contract basis. You will be responsible for securing and/or assuring consents and approvals, including town planning and other development‑related approvals, and for providing guidance for others within the PMO and Planning Centre of Excellence and assigned Hub as required.
Key job responsibilities
* Accountable for managing the requirements for development consents and approvals required to support construction projects across all sectors, Government and the private sector.
* Preparation of Consents Management Strategies and Plans.
* Provision of expert advice and guidance and support to Project/Programme teams and the Mace Centre of Excellence on consents management.
* Provision of guidance to engineers/architects on the production of drawings and supplemental information required to support consents applications.
* Assembly, submission and management of consents applications in accordance with the requirements of the approving body.
* Maintaining up‑to‑date knowledge of relevant policy and legislation applicable to a particular project or sector to be able to provide strategic advice on requirements.
* Monitoring and/or advising on construction related activities to ensure that consents and requirements are fully complied with.
* Manage or assist in undertaking consultation with various stakeholders, interested third parties and the public, on specific projects.
* Liaison with project management (including risk, programme management, and reporting) for the consents management function specific to the particular project.
* Works collaboratively towards the common goal of net zero carbon transition, and shared responsibility for the proactive identification and management of the associated carbon emissions and reductions during the delivery of work.
Technical and industry competencies
* Demonstrable experience of consents management in major construction programmes / projects particularly the town planning process
* Working knowledge of environmental requirements and assessments
* Good understanding of construction projects, dependencies and interfaces within the project lifecycle.
* Deep domain knowledge of providing consenting leadership in one or more sectors (e.g. rail, highways, nuclear, public sector, hospitals, utilities).
* Experience of working client side as well as consultancy.

Further qualifications, certifications and experience
* Min. 5yrs experience or equivalent in development consents management with good understanding of the wide range of approvals needed to support major infrastructure programmes / projects.
* A good degree in a relevant discipline.
* Preferably a chartered (or equivalent) membership of a relevant professional institution or in a position to seek such membership.
* Capable of achieving Security Clearance for work on Government and related programmes / projects.
