We are delighted to advertise for a Highly Specialist psychology professions practitioner - Clinical/ Counselling Psychologist or CBT therapist (Band 8a or band 7-8a preceptorship). The ATS is a friendly, well-regarded multidisciplinary team that delivers specialist support and clinical interventions to adults with severe and complex mental health difficulties. This post offers an exciting opportunity for someone with sound clinical experience, aiming to develop and broaden their specialist therapy skills, and to enhance multidisciplinary team working, supervision, training, and leadership roles. The post will also facilitate skills development in partnership working, as we develop Neighbourhood Mental Health Teams and increase access to psychologically informed interventions as part of community transformation and PT-SMHP developments.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide high-quality, specialist applied psychology services to clients, their families or carers, with complex and comorbid presentations. They will possess assessment, intervention, and formulation skills across various psychological models, including CBT and attachment-based approaches. The post holder is expected to take a clinical leadership role and have supervisory experience. Responsibilities include supervising Assistant Psychologists, Clinical Trainees, and Psychology Graduate Volunteers, supporting psychological practice within the wider team through consultation, supervision, formulation, and training. They will utilize research skills for audit and research activities and contribute to service improvement and development.
Opportunities will be available to lead pathway developments as part of the service transformation, enhancing the psychological offer and supporting MDT in psychological thinking. We welcome applicants with specific interests in psychosis, trauma, emotional intensity, or particular therapy approaches such as CBT, Family work, CAT, or EMDR.

Psychologists are valued members of the ATS and are encouraged to play a key role in multidisciplinary team working. You will join a supportive network of Psychologists, clinical trainees, and psychology volunteers. You will work closely with Psychology colleagues and leads, receive high standards of supervision, and be supported by the Principal Clinical Psychologist. We offer a comprehensive CPD, peer supervision, and reflective practice programme for Psychology staff.
We welcome applications from enthusiastic and experienced psychologists with specialist knowledge in working with severe and enduring mental health difficulties such as complex trauma, psychosis, and personality disorders. Experience in MDT teamworking, teaching, and supervision is essential. The ability to work autonomously within a busy multidisciplinary team is highly valued.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Post-graduate doctoral level training in applied psychology (or equivalent for those trained before 1996 outside the UK), approved by the HPC, including models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics, two or more distinct psychological therapies, and lifespan developmental psychology.
* Registered as a Practitioner Psychologist with the Health Professions Council (HCPC).
* Pre-qualification training and qualifications in research methodology, staff training, or other fields of applied psychology.
Experience
* Experience in specialist psychological assessment and treatment across various care settings, including outpatient, community, primary care, and inpatient.
* Experience working with diverse client groups across the lifespan, managing highly emotive and distressing problems, including verbal and physical abuse.
* Experience in teaching, training, and supervision.
* Experience representing psychology within multidisciplinary care contexts.
* Knowledge or experience working with the specific client groups served by the team/service.
