Commercial Solar Designer & Account Manager Reading (RG30) | Office-based, 1–2 days hybrid | £31,000–£40,000 + commission | Full-time, permanent
A growing commercial solar firm is hiring a Commercial Solar Designer & Account Manager to join its expanding commercial team in Reading.
This is a varied role blending technical design with client ownership. You'll work directly with commercial customers to design solar PV, battery storage and EV charging systems, turning enquiries into fully developed proposals and supporting the sales process through to signed agreement, often over a period of months.
What you'll be doing
* Designing commercial solar PV systems for rooftop and ground-mounted installations
* Producing system layouts, performance estimates and client proposals
* Acting as the main point of contact for commercial customers through the design stage
* Explaining the technical and financial detail behind each system to clients
* Working with the sales team to develop quotes and technical documentation
* Managing relationships from first enquiry through to project approval
* Ensuring accurate information passes cleanly into the delivery team once a job proceeds
What we're looking for
* 1–2 years' experience working with solar PV systems
* Strong communicator, confident speaking with clients
* Well organised with sharp attention to detail
* Professional, polite and team-focused
Desirable
* Experience designing PV and battery storage systems
* Familiarity with solar design software such as PVSol or K2 Base
* An electrical or engineering background
* Experience liaising with clients by phone and email
