Description Walsall Archives are looking to recruit to the post of Archives Officer to be based at Lichfield Street Hub library and archive. Archives Officer – Ref: EE02925 Salary G4 £25,183 - £27,269 per annum. 1 x 37-hour post. The nature of this post is such that there may be a requirement to visit other locations in the course of their duties and therefore a car mileage allowance will be applicable. Walsall Council is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Archives Officer to work in our archives team to provide an efficient and effective front-line service. The archives service is based in the refurbished Lichfield Street Hub in Walsall town centre in a building shared with Walsall Library. This is an ideal opportunity to work as part of a wider archives team to help develop the service further. Duties include: Delivering a friendly and efficient front-line service in our research room and responding to enquiries in a timely and efficient manner. Assisting user access the relevant materials to allow them to conduct their research. Assisting with the listing and indexing of archives and local studies collections. You will also support the Archivist in working towards Archives Accreditation. Other important aspects of the role include ensuring all enquiries are dealt with within the specified timeframe set out by Walsall Council and promoting the service by assisting with events and with social media.
