Bolt Technical are recruiting for our client, a well-established and innovative building services consultancy specialising in engineered sprinkler and fire protection solutions for commercial, industrial, logistics and mixed-use developments for a Sprinkler Design Engineer to join their dynamic design team dedicated to technical excellence, high-quality delivery and client-focused service.
The role of Sprinkler Design Engineer is to lead the design of sprinkler and fire-suppression systems from concept through detailed design and hand-over. Your expertise will contribute directly to the safety and compliance of major building projects across the UK.
Key Responsibilities
* Design engineered automatic sprinkler systems for a variety of building types (commercial, logistics, retail, industrial) in accordance with relevant standards (e.g., BS 9251, BS EN 12845, FM Global).
* Produce detailed design drawings, hydraulic calculations, layouts and specification documentation.
* Collaborate with architectural, structural and M&E (mechanical & electrical) disciplines to ensure integrated and coordinated design solutions.
* Utilise CAD and Revit/BIM tools to develop and manage sprinkler system models and design packages.
* Conduct site surveys and inspections to gather design data and support installation/intervention reviews.
* Provide technical input and mentoring to less-experienced engineers, promote best practice and drive design quality throughout projects.
About You
* Degree (BEng/MEng) in Fire Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or related discipline — or equivalent experience.
* Proven experience within a consultancy or design-led environment focusing on fire protection / sprinkler systems.
* Strong knowledge of sprinkler design standards (BS 9251, BS EN 12845, LPC, FM) and hydraulic design principles.
* Experience with design software such as AutoCAD, Revit/BIM, and hydraulic calculation tools.
* Excellent communication, coordination and stakeholder-management skills.
* Willingness to travel as required to client sites; full UK driving licence preferred.
