Aurora Peartree is opening its doors in Autumn 6, and we’re looking for an experienced Assistant Headteacher to help make this vision a reality. This is a rare opportunity to be part of something truly transformative.
Aurora Peartree will be a nurturing, inclusive and ambitious school for children and young people aged 5– with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. With a capacity of students, our vision is to create a safe, enriching and aspirational environment where every learner can thrive.
The role:
As Assistant Headteacher, you’ll work closely with the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team to lead and manage all aspects of teaching and learning. You’ll take responsibility for driving high-quality teaching, improving standards of learning, and supporting staff to deliver an engaging curriculum that meets the needs of all learners.
Your responsibilities will include:
1. Support the efficient and safe running of the school, including acting as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead
2. Provide professional leadership for the School Improvement Plan and strategic curriculum development within the Aurora Framework.
3. Oversee attendance: monitor, report weekly, liaise with parents/pupils, and implement improvement strategies.
4. Assist the Deputy Headteacher with teaching and learning management, quality assurance, and robust assessment of pupil progress.
5. Line manage and performance review assigned education staff.
This is a leadership role where you’ll influence the culture and success of our school from day one.

Essential Qualifications
6. Recognised teacher training qualification – PGCE / QTS or QTLS / Diploma in Teaching.
Essential Experience
7. Proven track record of excellent creative and structured teaching within a special needs environment.
8. Experience of holding responsibility for and turning policy into effective and successful practice.
9. Leadership of a significant area or phase or inclusion, including responsibility for raising standards across the whole school.
10. Effective team management and collaborative working.
11. Strong communication skills across a range of audiences and mediums.
12. Successful management of complex scenarios and conflict resolution.
13. Proven ability to work effectively with a range of external agencies.
