About the Role
Roku is seeking a talented Product Interaction Designer, for a 12-Month Placement/Internship, who can craft easy to use and delightful user experiences across our streaming TVs and devices. We are looking for an independent individual who is both capable of driving projects forward autonomously and actively collaborating with multiple stakeholders from start to finish.
You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and refine user interactions that elevate the Roku experience. You’ll contribute to shaping innovative solutions for current and future device experiences, ensuring they are user-centered, seamless, and engaging.
This role requires a proactive approach and a keen eye for detail, ensuring that our products continue to set the standard for excellence in the streaming industry.
Join our innovative team at Roku as a UX Product Design Intern, where your passion for technology and creativity drives our success. We offer a paid 12-month placement, based out of our UK offices.
What you’ll be doing:
1. Explore user interaction design directions, analyzing the pros and cons of each, to arrive at creative, thoughtful design solutions
2. Design holistically to create a cohesive and coherent product experience
3. Communicate the user experience at various stages of the design process with wireframes, flow diagrams, storyboards, mockups, specs, and/or lightweight prototypes
4. Provide and receive feedback in regular design critiques with peers and stakeholders
5. Examine qualitative and quantitative data to make user-centered design decisions that meet business objectives
6. Partner closely with product managers, engineers, and cross-functional stakeholders to understand product requirements and build unique experiences that inform, entertain, and delight our customers
7. Contribute at every step of the product lifecycle from general product discovery, research, ideation and AB tests
8. Partner with user researchers to determine and execute the ideal research method to gather customer insights or evaluate designs
We’re excited if you have:
9. 2025 Grads or those currently enrolled in a full-time, degree-seeking program and in the process of obtaining a Bachelor’s or Master's degree in computer science or a related field due to graduate no later than 2026.
10. Expertise and relevant industry experience as a user interaction designer for consumer product
11. Proficiency with design tools such as Figma, Photoshop, and prototyping platforms
12. A proven track record in delivering impactful consumer experiences and project collaboration is essential.
13. Demonstrated ability to balance creative vision with strategic and business objectives.
14. Curious, adaptable, and collaborative, with a passion for solving problems and creating delightful user experiences.
15. Good analytical skills for thinking through complex interaction paths, use cases, and detailed design documentation.
16. Familiarity with the streaming TV experience and TV UI design
17. Expertise in collaborating with product managers, engineers, researchers, and designers, and being proactive and autonomous during the end-to-end project process.
18. Excellent communication, facilitation, presentation, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
19. Excellent problem-solving skills and relentless attention to detail
20. Ability to thrive in a highly dynamic, sometime ambiguous environment.
