Job Title: Electrical Project Engineering Manager

Location: Dalston Factory, Cumbria

Salary: £50,000.00 - £62,000.00 dependent on experience + 17% car allowance + potential, discretionary 12% annual bonus + generous pension scheme + 12 flexible days on top of 25-day holiday entitlement + 2 paid volunteering days + other fantastic benefits!

Position Summary

We have an exciting new opportunity for an Electrical Project Engineering Manager to join our team at the Dalston Factory in Cumbria. This role will play a key part in the delivery of upcoming capital expenditure (CAPEX) projects on site as we continue our improvement plans.

Nestlé Dalston Factory in Cumbria is the European Centre for cappuccino and creamers producing a range of beverage products. These are produced through a highly automated PLC‑controlled process plant and automated filling and packing lines. It is continually developing and expanding leading brands such as Nescafé, Aero Hot Chocolate and Coffee‑mate. The factory is moving forward with continuous improvement principles and actively developing Lean / TPM processes so it is an exciting time to be involved.


Responsibilities

* Support the End‑to‑End Project Manager and Project Engineering Manager in developing the investment project charter and ensuring it is strictly followed throughout the project.
* Execute basic and detailed design of the project based on Nestlé Corporate Business Principles, Nestlé standards, local regulations, the defined User Requirements Specifications and the TPM characteristics of a unit operation (safety, quality, affordability, maintainability, operability and reliability).
* Implement the engineering side of the project (electrical, automation, IT, etc.) in accordance with the defined timing, cost and quality, the URS and the characteristics of a unit operation.
* Select and qualify contractors, coordinate their activities and ensure Nestlé standards are applied.
* Support the start‑up manager and their team to ensure a smooth transition to operations after the qualification and verification of the installation.
* Contribute to preparing and distributing the engineering project documentation, including the engineering part of the project final report and provide feedback to the Maintenance Prevention System.


What Will Make You Successful

The ideal candidate will already be an experienced project engineer, preferably within a manufacturing / FMCG environment.

You will be qualified to at least an NVQ level 3 in Electrical Engineering or equivalent electrical qualification. It is essential for this role that you are an electrically biased engineer.


Qualifications and Experience

* Experience in capital investment projects development and implementation in food industry – Essential.
* Experience of Health & Safety compliance in relation to manufacturing and project engineering.
* Electrical Design & Schematics – proficiency in designing electrical systems using CAD tools (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, cable calculation software).
* Power Systems – experience with low, medium and high‑voltage systems, including transformers, switchgear and protection systems.
* Control Systems & PLCs – familiarity with automation, instrumentation and programmable logic controllers.
* Site Installation & Commissioning – hands‑on experience with electrical installations, testing and commissioning of systems.
* Troubleshooting & Maintenance – ability to diagnose and resolve electrical faults in complex systems.
