We are recruiting on their behalf for a Service & Assembly Technician to join their team on a full-time, permanent contract. Our client is a leading and innovative organisation in a specialist defence related industry. Due to this you will need to pass security vetting upon employment. This is a workshop-based position, ideally suited to a junior technician, mechanical fitter, or apprentice-trained engineer who is looking to develop their skills in a purpose-driven environment. A competitive salary of £25,000 – £28,000 per annum is available, dependent on experience. You will work hands-on across the full product lifecycle—from build and test to routine servicing, system upgrades and repairs. You'll be part of a skilled, supportive team committed to continuous learning, with opportunities for technical development and progression. Service & Assembly Technician main duties: * Assist with the mechanical and electrical assembly of specialist equipment and systems * Perform servicing, inspections, and basic repairs on returned or deployed systems * Support the testing and quality control of assembled units prior to dispatch * Work from technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and build instructions * Learn and apply skills in machining, fitting, diagnostics, and pneumatics * Maintain tools, equipment, and a clean, organised workshop environment * Help prepare systems for delivery, ensuring all necessary components and documentation are complete * Collaborate with engineers and project teams to resolve technical challenges * Accurately record build and test data, and contribute to continuous improvement activities * Provide occasional support with field servicing or customer demonstrations, as required Service & Assembly Technician desired skills and experience: * Previous hands-on experience in a mechanical, electrical, or multi-skilled role (fitting, technician, engineering apprentice) * A relevant qualification such as HNC/HND in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or successful completion of an engineering apprenticeship * Practical mindset with strong problem-solving abilities * Confident using hand tools, measuring equipment, and working from assembly drawings * Excellent attention to detail, communication skills, and a commitment to quality * Willingness to learn new techniques and contribute to a small, close-knit team An immediate start can be available for the successful candidate.
