This is a key leadership position within the Education and Skills Directorate. You will:
Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council is seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional to lead three vital education support services: Governor Services, School Admissions, and Education Business Support. This is an exciting opportunity to lead across a range of teams in delivering the very best for the young people of our borough.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the development and delivery of high-quality support, training and clerking to trust boards and school governing bodies, ensuring they are equipped to fulfil their strategic responsibilities.
* Oversee the statutory school admissions process, ensuring compliance with the School Admissions Code and delivering a responsive, parent- and school-focused service.
* Manage the Education Business Support Team, including the traded service at Inspire to Learn, ensuring operational excellence and value for money.
* Provide expert advice on school governance legislation and best practice.
* Develop and deliver training and development programmes for governors.
* Lead the appointment of local authority governors and support governing body effectiveness.
* Ensure the admissions service is efficient, compliant, and customer focused.
* Oversee the delivery of business support services aligned with school improvement priorities.
* Manage budgets, service planning, and performance reporting across all areas.
* Lead teams effectively, drive service improvement, and manage change.
* Develop a deep understanding of school governance, admissions, and wider education policy.
* Manage leadership responsibilities alongside a small clerking caseload.
Qualifications
* Demonstrate extensive management experience in education or public services.
* Demonstrate a strong knowledge of school governance legislation.
* Communicate confidently with a wide range of stakeholders including headteachers, governors, and senior officers.
* Demonstrate an excellent standard of written and spoken English.
