Sports Centre Assistant (Lifeguard) - Caterham, Surrey Location: Caterham School Sports Centre Reporting to: Sports Centre Duty Manager Hours: Monday, Wednesday & Friday mornings 6.15am – 9.30am shifts available Main Purpose: To assist in the daily operation of the Sports Centre ensuring a safe, efficient and customer orientated service is provided to all members and visitors SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: To assist in the day-to-day operation of the Sports Centre, ensuring that all Health & Safety legislation and operational procedures are complied with at all times. To undertake lifeguard duties to ensure the safety of pool users at all times. To set-up and clear down equipment to ensure the smooth operation of the Centres many sporting facilities. To attend staff training as part of the National Pool Lifeguard Qualification. To administer first aid and implement lifeguarding procedures in accordance with that training. To regularly maintain any related training requirements. To maintain the highest standards of hygiene and cleanliness throughout the Sports Centre at all times. To work shifts to cover the operating hours of the facility, including evenings and weekends. To ensure the highest possible customer service standards are implemented for all members and visitors to the centre. To undertake any other duties as requested by the Sports Centre Duty Manager or Commercial team. CONFIDENTALITY The successful candidate must maintain the confidentiality of information regarding the School, its staff and its business as sensitive and confidential materials are regularly handled in the Department. Information must not be communicated to other persons either in or outside the School except in the recognised course of their duties. PERSON SPECIFICATION SKILLS & ABILITIES A motivated individual able to work on own initiative. A good standard of general education Ability to work as part of a team. Basic knowledge of Health & Safety at Work. The ability to provide exceptional customer service at all times. Willingness to undertake relevant mandatory training. A reliable and enthusiastic individual with a flexible approach to work. An interest in Sport, or Health & Fitness. EXPERIENCE Essential: National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ). Desirable: First aid qualification. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS Regular Lifeguard Training after qualification.
