Job Title: Kitchen Porter
Location: Talli Kitchen – Indian Restaurant
Reports to: Head Chef / Kitchen Manager
Job Purpose:
The Kitchen Porter plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth running of the kitchen by maintaining cleanliness, supporting chefs with basic food preparation, and keeping work areas hygienic and organized.
Key Responsibilities:
* Wash, dry, and store kitchen utensils, crockery, cutlery, and cooking equipment.
* Maintain cleanliness of kitchen surfaces, floors, storage areas, and bins.
* Assist with receiving, unpacking, and storing deliveries of food and supplies.
* Ensure proper waste disposal and recycling in line with health and safety standards.
* Support chefs by preparing basic ingredients (e.g., peeling, chopping, washing).
* Keep stock of cleaning materials and report shortages to the kitchen manager.
* Follow food safety, hygiene, and health & safety regulations at all times.
* Assist in setting up and closing down the kitchen as required.
Requirements:
* Previous experience as a kitchen porter or in a similar role is preferred but not essential.
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
* Good teamwork skills and a positive attitude.
* Basic understanding of kitchen hygiene and safety standards.
* Physically fit and able to carry out manual tasks.
* Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
