The Opportunity: Avantor is looking for a motivated and proactive Laboratory Technician to join our laboratory-based team in Macclesfield, UK. In this role, you will take ownership of a wide range of laboratory support activities in compliance with GMP standards, including equipment maintenance, reagent preparation, and supply management. This is a full-time, permanent position based at our customer's site in Macclesfield. Site location: Charter Way, Silk Road Business Park, Macclesfield, Cheshire, SK10 2NA The Team You will be part of a wider team of 15 associates-with 9 in your direct team and 6 in a partnering team located in the same building on campus. Both teams are close-knit, often sharing breaks and lunches together. The team is dedicated to providing operational support to laboratories on site. You'll be part of our Lab and Production Services department, which supports leading pharmaceutical companies and laboratories worldwide, helping to advance research and development in the Life Sciences industry. What we're looking for Education : A degree in a scientific subject is not essential, but it is advantageous Experience : 6-12 months of experience working in a laboratory environment, ideally with knowledge of GMP standards Customer-facing experience: Highly desirable, including roles in hospitality, retail, or warehouse settings Technical skills: Strong IT proficiency, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and inventory/tracking systems How you'll thrive and create an impact Perform routine laboratory support tasks, including equipment checks, reagent preparation, and housekeeping, in compliance with GMP and Health & Safety standards Manage laboratory supplies using systems like Kanban and CISPro, ensuring proper documentation and adherence to regulatory requirements Conduct preventative maintenance on laboratory equipment to ensure operational efficiency and compliance Prepare and label buffers, media, and reagents using electronic lab notebooks, ensuring accurate batch records and traceability Support and train new technicians through hands-on instruction, sharing best practices, and providing cross-functional coverage during team absences LI-Onsite Disclaimer: The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by employees assigned to this classification.
