Private Equity Co-investment: Our global direct co-investment typically makes investments in mid-market companies alongside established lead investors and specialist sponsors who have a history of strong performance, relevant sector expertise, consistent strategy and execution, and whose teams have shown that they can invest successfully through different economic cycles. The co-investment team invests in companies in North America, Europe, and the rest of the world, particularly developed Asia. We focus on companies with sustainable competitive positions, strong growth opportunities, and high ESG standards. While sector agnostic, preferred industries include consumer, healthcare, technology, and business services, and, to some extent, industrial companies and those in the energy and power markets. Role Purpose: The Intern will support CD's European Co-Investment team to perform both quantitative and qualitative analysis to assess and determine investment opportunities in the European market, and will have a chance to participate in the full end-to-end investment process The intern must be a fluent German and English speaker to be considered. Tasks & responsibilities: Gain a broad understanding of the private equity sector and the relevant value drivers. Screen of direct investment opportunities in the European market. Perform valuation analysis using comparable companies analysis, precedent comps analysis. Work with the deal team to shadow and support live transactions where required. Support the preparation and review of financial statements. Education & Qualifications: Academic background in relevant disciplines (Finance, Economics, Accounting, Engineering). Relevant past and keen interest in PE transactions would be critical. Successful candidates will ideally come from: a Private Equity fund, M&A or structured/leveraged finance teams of leading banks, transactions services team of a leading professional services firm, or leading strategy consulting firms. Understanding of financial statement analysis, valuation techniques, and competency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Possess a broad set of quantitative, qualitative, and interpersonal skills, and be a strong team player. Relevant industry qualifications such as CFA, CAIA, MBA, ACA / ACCA are welcome but not mandatory. Languages: Must be fluent in German and English and display superior writing skills. Additional language skills – Italian, Spanish, Japanese, South Korean, etc., are desirable but not essential. At the end of the internship, the successful candidate may be considered for a full-time position.
