Job Summary:
• An exciting temporary opportunity has arisen for an experienced Housing Repairs Technician – Painter to join a dynamic team within a public sector housing environment.
• The role involves undertaking a wide range of painting and decorating maintenance works to tenanted, void, and other council-owned properties.
• The successful candidate will deliver high-quality repairs, ensuring excellent customer satisfaction, safety compliance, and efficient service delivery.
• This is a hands-on, multi-skilled role requiring a professional painter with a proactive approach, good time management, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a wider team.
Key Duties/Accountabilities (Sample):
• Carry out painting and decorating repairs and maintenance across occupied, empty, and public properties.
• Deliver all work to a high standard on the first visit, minimising disruption to tenants.
• Diagnose required repairs and organise appropriate materials.
• Ensure all works are completed safely, efficiently, and within agreed timeframes.
• Assist with general maintenance tasks where competent to do so, beyond painting (multi-skilled).
• Operate council fleet vehicles and ensure equipment and tools are maintained appropriately.
• Report health and safety issues, safeguarding concerns, or tenancy breaches encountered during visits.
• Complete accurate electronic or written records and documentation for each job.
• Support stock management activities including stocktaking.
• Engage respectfully and professionally with members of the public, tenants, and colleagues.
• Maintain cleanliness and order on-site and remove waste materials following completion of work.
Skills/Experience:
• Proven experience in building repairs and maintenance, specifically in painting and decorating.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills – both written and verbal.
• Ability to work effectively to deadlines and complete tasks to a high standard.
• Experience dealing with members of the public in a customer-facing role.
• Knowledge of health and safety practices relevant to property maintenance and repairs.
Additional Information:
• The closing date: 25/10/2025.
• Full, clean UK driving licence.
• City & Guilds NVQ Level 2 in Painting and Decorating (or equivalent).
• Hours: 37 hours per week (Mon–Thu: 08:30–16:30, Fri: 08:30–16:00).
