Overview
Are you a dynamic and confident leader ready to develop our frontline environmental services? This is a key operational role within our Public Realm and Sustainability Service, responsible for the effective delivery of a wide range of services including street cleansing, fly-tip clearance, and public convenience cleaning. You will manage a team of supervisors and indirectly a large team of front-line staff and contractors, manage budgets, and ensure services are delivered efficiently, safely, and in line with our environmental and corporate priorities. This is a varied and rewarding role where no two days are the same. You will play a vital role in delivering visible front-line services for residents, visitors & businesses across the district, supporting wider council initiatives, and responding to the challenges of extreme weather and emergency situations.
You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills together with proven substantial experience in managing and motivating teams and managing performance. You will have a strong understanding of health and safety, and be comfortable working with internal and external stakeholders, including suppliers, and community groups.
Responsibilities
* Deliver a wide range of frontline environmental services (street cleansing, fly-tip clearance, public convenience cleaning) in line with environmental and corporate priorities.
* Manage a team of supervisors and indirectly a large team of front-line staff and contractors; oversee budgets and ensure services are delivered efficiently and safely.
* Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, including suppliers and community groups, and respond to extreme weather and emergency situations.
* Support wider council initiatives and contribute to continuous service improvement.
Qualifications and requirements
* At least 5 GCSEs at grade C or above, including Maths and English.
* Full knowledge of Manual Handling Safe Practise and the Health & Safety at Work Act.
* A Full UK driving license with access to your own vehicle.
* Desirable: IOSH Managing Safely qualification and Certificate in Management Studies or equivalent in a relevant discipline; Disability Confident.
