We have a fantastic opportunity to support your local community and join us as a Roaming Patient Transport Liaison Officer based within the South West.

The Roaming Patient Transport Liaison Officer provides operational and patient-facing support across multiple community hospitals (Bristol, Corsham, Bath, Chippenham & surrounding areas). Acting as a key point of contact during periods of increased demand, the role supports bed management, patient enquiries and risk assessments, while maintaining strong working relationships with wards, discharge lounges and bed managers.

The role will also include working as a single crew Ambulance Care Assistant, transporting patients to and from their medical appointments and between healthcare facilities. This includes supporting manual handling and communicating effectively with patients and relatives, and ensuring safe handover to healthcare staff or family members.

This is a permanent full time position working 37.5hrs pw and will be split into;

* 3 x 7.5 days roaming PTLO responsibilities &
* 2 x 7.5 days ACA responsibilities – Monday – Sunday

Key PTLO responsibilities:

* Being the point of contact for your designated Trusts if they fall into a bed crisis; patients' queries, risk assessments among other things.
* Attend meetings on an ad-hoc basis.
* To maintain positive relationships with hospital wards, outpatient units, discharge lounges and bed managers.
* Meet weekly with planning/control to forecast for following weeks activity identifying peaks and troughs in demand and ensuring operational responsiveness.
* To assist operational managers with issues that arise throughout the day.
* Dealing with patient's enquiries and questions as and when they arise.
* Familiarisation with EMED policies, processes, and standard operating procedures.
* Support with complex lifting where required, and moving patients between wards/departments.

Key ACA responsibilities:

* Assisting in the transportation of 'end of life' service users, ensuring a high level of empathy is present at all times.
* Building rapport by effectively communicating with patients and their relatives/friends.
* Responsible for lifting, securing and helping service users in and out of the Ambulance.
* Assist with the handing over of patients to appropriate staff on arrival at treatment centres/hospitals or to family/friends at their homes.

To be considered, you will need to:

* Hold a valid UK manual driving licence.
* Be able to work flexible shifts.(with notice)
* An effective communicator and experience of communicating with others in what can often be emotional circumstances.
* Be physically fit for patient handling and moving.
* Have experience of working in a healthcare / hospital setting.
* Thorough working knowledge of Non-Emergency Patient Transport services.

The ability to plan and prioritise own workload.
* Excellent communication skills – verbal and written – with the ability to explain decisions made.
* Ability to make decisions based on impact assessment.
* The ability to build effective relationships using influencing skills with key stakeholders to prioritise EMED services and support divisional growth
* Pass an Enhanced DBS check (company funded).
