The role As a Buyer, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary where you'll help generate significant value for the business by reducing the total cost of bought in goods and services whilst managing supplier relationships to increase the overall value derived from the supply chain. Day-to-day, you'll commercially represent the company and provide support to the Babcock Marine and Technology Supply Chain in the provision of goods and / or services at the best total acquisition cost, consistent with the specified technical, quality assurance and delivery requirements which are critical to the success of this business. Prepare, issue and review supplier's request for quote, recommending preferred options to the relevant stakeholders Converting purchase requisitions to purchase orders and issuing to suppliers, negotiating appropriate terms and conditions for the protection of the organisation Manage and develop supplier relationships Pro-active supplier order book management activities Procurement both direct and indirect basis This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 3 days in the office/onsite and 2 days working from home. Essential experience of the Buyer: Procurement experience, ideally in an operational procurement environment Experience in sourcing new materials and services Ability to establish strong relationships with key stakeholders across the business Qualifications for the Buyer: A recognised degree level qualification and/or relevant engineering/supply chain/lean culture experience. Membership of a relevant professional body e.g. CIPS at level 4 or above Security Clearance The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
