Join Our Facilities Team – Assistant Cook
Are you enthusiastic about food, teamwork, and helping young people thrive? We’re looking for a reliable and motivated Assistant Cook to join our Facilities (Soft FM) team, supporting the delivery of high-quality school meals across Falkirk Council.
In this key role, you’ll assist the Cook in Charge with food preparation, service, and kitchen operations – helping provide safe, nutritious, and appealing meals that support pupils’ health and wellbeing.
What You’ll Do:
* Support the daily preparation, cooking, and presentation of meals
* Assist with stock control, deliveries, and kitchen cleanliness
* Comply with food safety, health and safety, and hygiene regulations
* Contribute to maintaining a clean, efficient and well-organised kitchen environment
* Provide excellent customer service to pupils and staff
What We’re Looking For:
* A positive, flexible attitude and strong team ethic
* Basic knowledge of food preparation and kitchen hygiene is desirable
* Experience in a similar role is helpful but not essential – full training provided
* Confidence in using kitchen equipment and following food safety procedures
* Ability to work under pressure and manage tasks in a busy school environment

* Location:
o Braes High School 7.30am to 2pm (30-minute unpaid break)
o Graeme High School 7.30am to 2pm (30-minute unpaid break)
o Larbert High School 7.30am to 2pm (30-minute unpaid break)
o Boness Academy 7.30am to 2pm (30-minute unpaid break)
* Hours: 30 hours per week, term time only
* Days: Monday to Friday
* Contract: Permanent
* Reporting to: Cook in Charge
