The Team
We are seeking an ambitious and experienced Senior Claims Handler to join our Trident team in Manchester. Trident is a dedicated team of pre-litigation recovery and claim specialists in the UK, providing a seamless, cost-effective service to clients seeking swift and effective claim handling and recoveries. Working in close alignment with Clyde & Co's disputes practice, the team combines deep sector knowledge with a pragmatic, commercial approach to claim handling and debt recovery.
The Role
Working in our team you will be responsible for the handling/adjustment of marine claims and pursuit of recoveries (pre-litigation only) against liable parties in the UK and globally. This is a great opportunity to get into an interesting area of marine with a successful and growing team and be part of a global organisation.
To be successful in this role it will be preferable for you to be able to demonstrate a minimum of 12 months experience in the marine/commercial insurance market. You will have strong academics preferably CII or above/degree. A strong work ethic and ability to handle a high-volume, varied complexity caseload whilst meeting deadlines/SLA's and contributing towards targets is essential.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage a portfolio of claim & recovery matters efficiently, maintaining accurate case records, correspondence, and management information to a high professional standard always aligning with client instructions, commercial objectives and regulatory requirements.
* Apply sound legal and commercial judgment to evaluate recovery opportunities, repayment proposals, and enforcement options, escalating where appropriate but always with a view to securing early resolution and minimum exposure for clients.
* Claims management: Handle end-to-end claims including new claim intake, interim advice, evidence review and settlement recommendations.
* Technical claim analysis: evaluate liability/coverage and quantum issues using policy documentation and legal principles.
* Liaise closely with insurers, brokers, internal stakeholders and external counsel.
* Uphold Trident's commitment to risk management, compliance, and ethical standards in all activities.
* Deliver a consistently high standard of client service, ensuring that communications are timely, clear, and commercially focused.
* Contribute to the continuous improvement of processes, identifying efficiencies and supporting knowledge sharing within the Trident team.
Skills And Experience
* Ideally a minimum of 12 months experience in the marine insurance market with strong technical knowledge.
* You will have strong academics preferably CII or above/degree.
* An effective communicator with the ability to liaise with internal and external clients in a professional manner; striving to provide exceptional service at all times.
* Good organisational skills and ability to manage own time effectively within a fast-paced environment.
* Excellent attention to detail and customer/client service focused.
* Good negotiation skills.
* Excellent team player, sharing in team goals to provide excellent quality and efficiency of service, with a willingness to take on new responsibilities and challenges.
