Overview
An exciting opportunity to join the Quality Assurance Summarisin g Team in NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership (NWSSP) Primary Care Services. The post holder will be part of a team of trained Medical Records Summarisers who receive, prepare, keep an audit trail, summarise and return GP practices medical records. This post is a secondment until 31/03/2026. If you are interested in applying for the secondment position, you must obtain permission from your current line manager prior to applying for this post.
Main duties of the job
* The post holder will undertake the process of summarising clinical information from patients\' medical records.
* Capture important clinical information from paper and electronically transferred medical records and input it directly into the GP Practices clinical systems using read codes, in adherence to the GMS contract requirements.
* Maintain a robust audit trail throughout the process and ensure proper storage and safe transport of records on arrival and post-summarising.
* Liaise with GP practices to request missing information and with internal stakeholders to retrieve, summarise and return medical records.
* Work as part of a team and also apply individual skills and knowledge in summarising.
* Based in Matrix House Swansea.
* Welsh language is desirable; English and/or Welsh speakers are welcome to apply.

Qualifications and Knowledge
Essential criteria
* Knowledge of administrative procedures, including specialised Clinical IT systems and project management, training knowledge, acquired through formal training or experience to NVQ 3 level or equivalent
* Computer literacy including Word, PowerPoint with advanced competence of Access and Excel
* Evidence of Continuous Professional Development
Desirable criteria
* Understanding of Primary Care Clinical Services
* NVQ in Health & Social Care
Experience
Essential criteria
* Experience of working in a Primary Care Setting
* Experience of Providing a Confidential administrative service to a multi disciplinary team
* Experience in providing patient/client facing services
* Experience of working across organisational boundaries
* Able to prioritise workload
* Experience in clinical audit / Data collection
* Experience in providing information reports for clinical and managerial purposes
Desirable criteria
* Experience of working with numerous stakeholders from a range of agencies
* Significant NHS / Primary Care experience
