Northern Skills are recruiting on behalf of AV Elite who are looking someone who is keen to learn and work as part of a team. Excellent time keeping and can do attitude are essential. You will be working alongside experienced AV engineers who will be able to teach all the skills and knowledge you need to succeed in a rapidly expanding industry.
Salary is £19k for Year 1, £21k for Year 2, £23k for Year 3. Salary will then be reviewed & reflected upon performance.
Training course: Audiovisual technician (level 5)
Hours: Monday - Friday, 8.00am - 4.00pm. Any overtime will be paid at a rate of 1.5 hours per hour. Saturdays paid at 1.5 hours. Sundays at 2.0 hours. 40 hours a week.

Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands‑on experience.
What you’ll do at work
* Work alongside a team of on‑site supervisors & engineers learning how to install, terminate & test AV cabling
* Learn how to install a range of audio‑visual equipment (screens, projectors, LED walls, microphones, speakers, cameras, etc.) to different finishes (plasterboard, concrete, joinery, etc.) and use the correct fixings for each surface material
* Assist the on‑site team with taking in deliveries and moving equipment & materials around the site
* Assist the on‑site team with paperwork for example Asset registers, cable schedules, AVIT schedules, test sheets
* Use laptops provided for these tasks
* Ensure on‑site work areas and storage areas are kept clean, tidy and safe
* Read & install to both schematic/wiring drawings & M&E drawings to ensure installation follows the client’s design

Training
Apprenticeships include time away from working for specialist training. You’ll study to gain professional knowledge and skills.
* Integrate a projector and/or display as part of an audiovisual presentation
* Audio mixing: loudness, timbre, spatialisation, and channel management
* Apply and problem‑solve video signal flow for live production
* Operate and program lighting control software/hardware
* Root cause analysis & problem solving
* Collate, compare, and synthesise information from various sources
* Build and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders (performers, public speakers, presenters, clients, event organisers)
* Communicate technical concepts with clarity in person and in writing to end‑users of all skill levels and seniority
* Install, test, and commission relevant hardware
* Configure and manage remote participation systems
* Edit audio and video content
* Prepare, maintain, and manipulate audio and video assets through post‑production
* Create digital assets for video workflows
* Operate a video camera and vision mixer
* Manual camera operation for a range of contemporary S35mm digital cameras
* Deliver virtual event technical operations
* Advise and guide event participants
* Devise a learning programme for a particular device/system
* Identify personal training and professional development needs via research and investigation
* Organise appropriate professional development activities to develop and enhance your role and skills
* Use collaborative online environments to schedule and update projects and tasks
* Complete risk assessment documentation
* Accurately assess level of risk to health and safety of yourself and others
* Test and maintain audiovisual equipment, cables, and connectors; substitute items where necessary
* Document and record maintenance activities
* Safe storage of equipment
* Create a coherent planning document
* Online day release
Requirements
GCSE in Maths and English (grade 4 or above) and any subject (grade Pass). Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.

Other requirements
The role will be based on different sites in and around London for the duration of the apprenticeship. Therefore, the successful candidate will need to live in or around London with access to public transport links.

We are a small business working on behalf of much larger integrators. We will be installing projects for some of the largest businesses in the world. It is therefore incredibly important that the successful candidate presents themselves well and is well mannered in client‑facing situations.
Travel expense costs will be covered at a max rate of £100 per week.
