Responsibilities
* Provide skilled specialist assistance in the delivery of direct and indirect patient care throughout the Operating Department.
* Participate as an integral member of the team, covering a full range of shifts, including earlies, lates, nights, weekends and ad hoc on calls (if necessary).
* Act as the patient advocate and maintain high standards of patient care, in line with NMC or HCPC code of conduct.
* Support and mentor students and new staff as appropriate.
* Rotate through surgical specialties to gain a wide practical and theoretical knowledge base (Neuro/Angio, ENT OMF, Trauma and Orthopaedics).
What we are looking for
* Qualified theatre practitioners (RN/RODP) with or without theatre experience; successful candidate will be trained for the specialty offered.
* Good communication skills, patient-focused, friendly and a team player.
* Mentoring and career development opportunities with a pathway to clinical and leadership development; potential for dual skill development and secondment into another theatre discipline.
* Teamwork is essential; the Neuro/Angio, ENT/OMF, and Trauma and Orthopaedic teams are diverse and high-performing.
* Ability to support the team in achieving high standards of patient care within theatres; four Operating Theatres Monday to Friday with 24-hour Neuro emergency pathways; adult and paediatric neurosurgery and 24h stroke services.

Person Specification
Essential
* Registered nurse or ODP on relevant part of the register
* Degree or equivalent experience
* Ability to assist in intraoperative patient care with concise handover
* Knowledge of learning support and evidence-based practice
* Understanding of personal accountability
* Aptitude for caring for anaesthetised and/or acutely unwell patients
Desirable
* Experience teaching and supporting learners in practice
* Immediate Life Support or equivalent resuscitation qualification
* Experience in relevant care setting; relevant theatre work-based learning or mentorship
* Interest in research to promote good practice
