A specialist secondary SEN provision in Uxbridge is seeking a dedicated and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to support students with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD). This is a highly rewarding role supporting young people with complex medical, physical, and learning needs in a structured and nurturing environment.
About the Role
As a Secondary PMLD Teaching Assistant, you will:
* Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with PMLD
* Support pupils with communication, engagement, and sensory-based learning
* Assist with personal care, feeding, and mobility support
* Use specialist equipment and follow care plans to support physical needs
* Work closely with teachers, therapists, and healthcare professionals
* Implement EHCP targets and individual support programmes
* Help create a safe, calm, and inclusive learning environment
Requirements
* Experience supporting pupils with PMLD or complex SEN needs
* Manual Handling training – essential
* Confident supporting personal care and physical needs
* Understanding of sensory learning and communication approaches
* Patient, resilient, and nurturing approach
* Strong teamwork and communication skills
* Enhanced DBS on the Update Service – essential
Desirable
* Experience working with secondary-aged pupils
* Knowledge of Makaton, PECS, or AAC systems
* Background in care, healthcare, or specialist education
