US & UK Assistant Tax Manager
Overview
A specialist tax advisory practice is seeking an experienced Assistant Tax Manager to join its London-based team. This role focuses on delivering high-quality US and UK personal tax compliance and advisory services to internationally mobile individuals.
The Role
The successful candidate will take responsibility for managing a varied client portfolio and supporting senior team members in the delivery of complex tax engagements. Key responsibilities include:
* Managing a portfolio of clients to ensure US and UK personal tax compliance obligations are met accurately and on time, including coordinating the collection of relevant information.
* Reviewing tax returns and work prepared by junior team members.
* Developing and maintaining strong client relationships, with the ability to identify potential opportunities for additional services.
* Identifying technical issues and potential risks, and escalating these to senior colleagues as appropriate.
* Overseeing the financial aspects of client engagements, including monitoring time and budgets.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following experience and skills:
* 4+ years experience in US/UK private client taxation, ideally with exposure to HNW individuals, business owners, or senior executives.
* Professionally qualified (e.g. ATT) and an Enrolled Agent (EA).
* Experience using US tax compliance software such as CCH Axcess or CCH ProSystem.
* Proven ability to manage a client portfolio proactively while collaborating effectively with both senior and junior colleagues.
* Strong IT skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
* Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise workloads and meet tight deadlines.
* A collaborative approach, with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
