About the Role
We are looking for a Principal Environmental Health/Environmental Protection Officer to assist in providing a high quality, customer focused Environmental Health & Licensing Service particularly in relation to environmental control,
This role will lead the Environmental Control Team, who deliver a range of services, including statutory nuisance, air quality and contaminated land management, pest and stray dog control and will involve deputising for the Environmental Health and Licensing Manager where necessary.
The post-holder will undertake investigations/inspections with regard to the more complex environmental control cases and be experienced in taking proportionate enforcement action. They will also be required to write and present complex reports on a range of environmental control subjects to senior management and Member committees.
About You
You will hold a degree in environmental health or a relevant environmental control subject and additional qualifications in acoustics, air quality, contaminated land or people management would be desirable. You must have significant experience in local authority environmental control work and ideally experience of managing a team.
You will be enthusiastic, committed and self-motivated, with good organisational and supervisory skills. You must be an excellent communicator and be confident in dealing with members of the public, businesses, elected Members and other agencies. You will need to be able to demonstrate your ability to work on your own initiative, adapt to changing priorities and to work to tight deadlines.
