CNC Programmer

The Opportunity as CNC Programmer
Proud to be recruiting on behalf of a long-established, highly respected precision engineering business that really knows its stuff. This is a newly created role, which usually means one of two things: chaos… or opportunity. In this case, it's very much the second.
They're growing, investing, and looking for someone who can help shape the way CNC programming is done across the business, not just keep the seat warm.
Why This Role?
* Because it's not just another CNC Programmer job hidden behind the usual copy-and-paste advert waffle.
* It's a genuine chance to join a business with a strong reputation, interesting technical work, and a leadership team that values people who know what they're doing.
* If you like the idea of being listened to, making improvements that actually stick, and working somewhere that takes engineering seriously without taking itself too seriously, this one is well worth a look.
The Role as CNC Programmer
* This is a hands-on CNC Programmer position with real variety and influence.
* You'll be developing, verifying and optimising CNC milling programmes, supporting production flow, improving tooling strategy, and helping build a more robust approach to programme and document control.
* You'll work closely with the technical team, machine operators and other departments to make sure machining processes are accurate, efficient and practical in the real world - not just on paper.
What You'll Be Doing as CNC Programmer
* Developing and optimising CNC programmes using Heidenhain controls and offline CAM software
* Creating clear, well-structured and properly annotated programmes; interpreting drawings, models and technical specifications to create effective machining strategies
* Supporting setup and prove-out of milling programmes; estimating machining times to support costing activity
* Contributing to DFM discussions and continuous improvement work
* Assist operators develop efficient working methods; supporting programme, tooling and document control
* Mentoring or training colleagues where needed; and working closely with the wider team to keep standards, deadlines and quality where they should be.
What They're Looking For in a CNC Programmer
* Someone with solid CNC programming experience in a precision engineering environment, ideally with offline programming and verification experience, knowledge of Heidenhain or similar controls, and confidence working with multi-axis CNC machines.
* You'll need to be technically sharp, organised, practical, and comfortable working in a fast-paced setting where priorities can shift.
* They're looking for someone who takes ownership, spots problems early, and comes armed with solutions.
What Will Make You Stand Out
* A strong engineering background, good understanding of CAM systems, experience improving processes and documentation, and the ability to communicate well with both technical and non-technical colleagues.
* Any experience mentoring others or supporting team development would be a real bonus.
