Job Summary We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic GP to join a forward‑thinking, three‑partner training practice caring for 9,500+ patients in Thornbrook, Derbyshire. 4 sessions per week (negotiable). Competitive salary with NHS pension and generous annual leave.
Clinical Responsibilities
Make yourself available for surgery consultations, telephone consultations, home visits, and repeat prescription checks and signatures.
Make professional, autonomous decisions regarding presenting problems, whether self‑referred or referred from other health‑care workers.
Assess the health‑care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
Screen patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
Develop care plans in consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease‑management protocols.
Provide counselling and health education.
Admit or discharge patients to and from the caseload and refer to other care providers as appropriate.
Record clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.
Collect data for audit purposes.
Compile and issue computer‑generated acute and repeat prescriptions, avoiding handwritten prescriptions whenever possible.
Prescribe in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary (or generically) when clinically appropriate.
Undertake all normal duties and responsibilities expected of a GP working within primary care.
Other Responsibilities Within the Organisation
Awareness and compliance with all practice policies, including prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, and health and safety.
A commitment to life‑long learning and audit to promote evidence‑based practice.
Contribute to evaluation, audit, and clinical standard setting within the organisation.
Participate in the development and maintenance of computer‑based patient records and read‑coding data.
Complete medical reports in a timely manner.
Support and participate in the supervision of medical students and trainees.
Participate in the clinical rota, including extended hours as required.
Qualifications
General Practitioner registered with the GMC and on the NHS Performers List.
Knowledge and Skills
Good communication skills.
Proactive approach to clinical and operational responsibilities.
