Are you passionate about food and ready to begin an exciting career in the kitchen?

We’re looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Apprentice Chef to join our talented culinary team at Bagdale Hall. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone eager to learn the art of cooking in a fast-paced, professional environment.


Wage

£11,778 for your first year, with potential increases depending on age

National Minimum Wage rate for apprentices

Hours

Flexible shifts including evenings and weekends, 30 hours a week

Work & Responsibilities

You will spend most of your apprenticeship gaining hands-on experience working alongside experienced chefs. Your duties will include preparing high-quality dishes, maintaining hygiene standards, supporting with deliveries, and working as part of a team.

* Assist in preparing and cooking dishes under guidance
* Maintain cleanliness and food hygiene standards
* Learn kitchen procedures, safety rules, and culinary techniques
* Support with deliveries, food storage, and stock rotation
* Bring energy and teamwork to every shift

Training

Includes time away from work for specialist training to gain professional knowledge and skills, including:

* Contributing to menu reviews
* Using technology for dish development
* Managing food stocks and expiry dates
* Measuring ingredients and portion sizes
* Preparing, cooking, and finishing dishes to standard
* Maintaining a clean and hygienic kitchen environment
* Working effectively with others and managing resources
* Following safety procedures and reporting risks


Requirements

GCSEs in relevant subjects. Let us know about other qualifications or experience that may be relevant.

About the Company

Bagdale Hall Hotel is located in Whitby, near the beach and North York Moors. Built in 1516, it offers comfortable rooms, delicious breakfast options, and a restaurant open for lunch and dinner from Tuesday to Saturday.
