Overview
Delivery Manager – Moors for the Future Partnership at Derbyshire County Council. Fixed-term role ending September 2026 with likely extension to 2030. Based at the Moorland Centre, Edale. Travel across the Peak District and South Pennines will be required.
Responsibilities
* Lead teams in the delivery of practical land management and nature conservation projects, and engage contractors to support such work.
* Ensure quality standards are upheld by staff and contractors.
* Develop and deliver creative land management solutions to achieve landscape-scale change through targeted project work.
* Manage both desk-based and field activities, with emphasis on developing and delivering conservation projects.
* Collaborate with project managers, partner organisations, landowners and land managers (e.g., farmers and gamekeepers) and voluntary groups to deliver outcomes.
* Lead a team across multiple projects simultaneously with limited supervision and adaptability to changes in projects.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Experience leading teams in the delivery of practical land management and nature conservation projects.
* Experience engaging contractors to support conservation work.
* Strong knowledge of quality standards for staff and contractors.
* Computer literacy with knowledge of GIS; minimum HND in an environmental or related subject (or equivalent).
* At least 4 years’ countryside management experience or similar land-based work.
* Ability to lead a team on multiple projects without close supervision.
* Experience in land management for nature conservation and ecosystem services, preferably in uplands and protected landscapes.
* Excellent communication skills for engaging with stakeholders including project managers, partner organisations, landowners and land managers, and voluntary groups.
* Strong problem-solving ability and collaborative approach to adapt projects while delivering outcomes.
